Spasibo
Spasibo is a book dedicated to the exhibit of Davide Monteleone, winner of the Carmignac Photojournalism Prize 2013. In his photographs, he accuracy depicts the daily life of the Chechen people, between submission and resistance, hope and resignation.
Davide Monteleone chooses to show us what is invisible to the eye: the oppressive atmosphere, the desperate and the fear that reins among the population. Chechen are a mountain people who experienced centuries of wars and others atrocities, such as massive deportation in the arid steppes of Kazak and Siberia, under Stalin dictatorship in 1944. But Davide Monteleone’s photographs are not lack of hope.
