« I wanted to gather within one book a collection of photographs and texts to offer a transversal reading of my photographic production, and which would be an attempt of a scattered self-portrait.
Beginning with an interview of my mother who explains a primordial lack and fight against psychic death (the end of all projection/ representation), the book revolves around the themes of loneliness, wandering and relations to one another. But at the opposite of a pessimistic vision: the dynamic of a formal succession reveals the mourning of an idea of a fixed and determined world, and its standardized representations.
The text takes the form of a consice diary that records meaningful period of my life – mostly tragic – memories, dreams and notes… The text has no literary claim, but its aim is to bring forward a subject and to allow an identification and an approach of the images through an open dialectic.
I didn’t want to reach any “Historical” truth, but rather I wanted to suggest a commentary on the relations images have between themselves, and the relations they maintain with the written medium. Beyond the narcissistic interest (true yet secondary), I was inspired with this project by how each element is going to find its meaning through its relation and breakage with the other elements. But also, how the meaning of everything that is being shown is activated by what is absent. »
