Photo Poche n°142
The rich diversity of the Françoise Huguier’s work may be explain by her refusal to choose between the different aspects of the photographic medium. She is interested in fashion – we know about her long complicity with the fashion designer Christian Lacroix – but she treats it in a quirky way. She travelled through Africa and decided to make the great photographers known. Photojournalism, that she practiced trough a long collaboration with the news daily Liberation, required her as much for a form of anthropological investigation in which she excels.
Cinema, politics, society, fashion… the wide range of Françoise Huguier’s interests is as diverse and original as her photographic practices switching between happiness of documentary, press photography, portrait or landscape. Since her first works, she is devoted to discover and explore the great regions of the world, the great rivers, rich of peoples and cultures, as an unfailing passion. Françoise Huguier has been weaving for nearly 40 years, a photographic work in which the formal eclecticism is confronted with the singularity of a critical gaze.
