Since 2006, Bertrand Carrière has been taking a series of photographs in Northern France and Belgian Flanders, in the area known as the “Chemin des dames”, sadly known as the site of the longest and deadliest engagements of the First World War. Based on a series of historical photographs, the artist returned to these places in search of what these places have become.
