La pesanteur du lieu is a project carried out as part of a creative residency at Domaine de Kerguéhennec, in Brittany. Kerguéhennec is a contemporary art center that presents more than 30 sculptures set in the middle of the landscape. It is a place full of memory and meaning where other artists have left their mark.
The series explores the concept of “place” as an axis of emotional connection through darkness, the limit of the representable and the perception of reality. Night appears as a tool of discovery, mystery and pleasure, as a hieroglyphic space that leads us to imagine something beyond what we really see. We are entering the realm of the mind, the imperceptible, the discovery.
In short, it is a more sensory than reasoned proposal, full of intangible elements that appear and disappear slowly as the pages are turned.
This work was published with the participation of the Morbihan department as part of Israel Ariño’s creative residency at Domaine de Kerguéhennec from October to November 2016. It also received the support and participation of Galerie VU’ and Grisart.
