In November 1989, Manuel Vimenet was in Berlin, where the first demonstrations of Berlin’s youth began on the eve of the fall of the Wall. It was in a climate of tension that the wall came down, on the night of November 9-10, 1989.<\/p>\n

On November 9, a first breach opened, followed by many others in the days that followed. At the gates of the wall, interminable queues formed following the influx of Berliners from the East.<\/p>\n

In the aftermath of the collapse, the gates of East Berlin opened on the other side of the city, allowing the inhabitants to take their first steps to the West. Manuel Vimenet captures the powerful images of a crowd gathered at the foot of the wall, beginning to destroy the Iron Curtain that had divided the city for 28 years. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>
