'><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Trained at the school of press reporters, Ad van Denderen quickly moved towards the development of personal projects to document the contemporary world without being dependent on the limitations imposed by the news media supports.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">His long-term work reveals the state of the world while confronting it with his own representation, in the tradition of documentary photography.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He thus embarks on an exploration of the world that takes him from his native country, Holland, to other territories to deal with contemporary issues such as the end of Apartheid in South Africa, the question of peace in the Holy Land, the deployment of Dutch troops in Afghanistan, the tourist industry on the Mediterranean edges, or immigration in Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><em>Go No Go<\/em><i>&#8211; <\/i>the result of 13 years of travel along the European borders of the Schengen area &#8211; <i> <\/i>is exemplary of his documentary approach: to look at and think about his subject in its history, its complexity and its humanity. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Living for a few days or a few months alongside migrants, Ad van Denderen documents their daily life, with an intimate framing. In parallel to the circuits of illegal immigration, he presents the opposite mechanisms of police and judicial regulation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><div class=\"flex_column av_two_fifth  av-break-at-tablet flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding   avia-builder-el-16  el_after_av_two_fifth  avia-builder-el-last  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;I tried to capture this shadowy society in which people do everything they can to survive, and where shame, pride and dignity play an essential role. I wanted to give a face to those who would otherwise remain anonymous.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>With <em>Blue so Blue<\/em>, Ad van Denderen surveys the Mediterranean edges to question its political, social, economic and ecological changes. He thus highlights the blatant and hilarious effects that globalization and industrialization of tourism have on human behavior. For this work, he swapped his traditional camera and black and white films for a medium format and color films, a material which requires different work and framing. He thus conducts his research with an &#8220;external&#8221; but authentically curious eye.
