She studied photography at the International Center of Photography in New York, where she lived for 15 years. She worked with Mary Ellen Mark for 10 years and is represented by L\u2019Agence VU\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>In 2011 she was rewarded with the Aaron Siskind Foundation Grant for the project she worked on for seven years in the south of Chile, \u201cLa Cruz del Sur,\u201d where she recorded a way of life slowly disappearing, with its centuries-old social structures and cultural traditions. She received the Prize of the Minister of Culture (Photography Museum in Charleroi, Belgium) in 2017, the\u00a0Marty Forscher Grant for Emerging Photographer in 2001, and the Fotografiecircuit Vlaanderen from the Photography Museum in Charleroi in 2003.<\/p>\n<p>She is a 2016 Magnum Emergency Fund Grantee for her project \u201cWelcome,\u201d that documents the reality of unaccompanied children seeking asylum in Belgium.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><div class=\"flex_column av_two_fifth  av-break-at-tablet flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding   avia-builder-el-16  el_after_av_two_fifth  el_before_av_hr  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Brigitte collaborated with Action Against Hunger in Guatemala, Colombia, and Palestine.
