In 1953-54, the Swiss writer Nicolas Bouvier and his painter friend Thierry Vernet travel from Belgrade to Afghanistan, with only a Fiat Toppolino as a luxury, which offers the freedom\u0301 to go wherever one wants and a slowness erected as an art. L’Usage du Monde tells the story of this 17-month-long wonderland drift.
\nUpset to the point of not being able to read anything for years by the luminous perfection with which Nicolas Bouvier crystallized this journey in such an economy of words so apt, the photographer Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Lecloux had this book to exorcise.<\/p>\n

In 2004-2005, he redid this road, by car: “I traveled without sticking to Nicolas Bouvier’s spats to the exact place, to the exact framing, to the exact word. And especially not “in the footsteps of Nicolas Bouvier”. A journey for the sake of the journey, which is sufficient in itself. A real drift that gives itself time for the world of people … ”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>
