With the World Cup just months away, time is running out for Qatar to change the lives of exploited and abused migrant workers. Since 2010, Qatar has pretended to improve the lives of workers, when in fact a thousand of them have died. Thousands of others continue to live a real hell. Analysis of the stakes and the mobilizations underway.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>
\n

While Nepal is depopulating, with, in 2015, one thousand five hundred Nepalese leaving every day to work abroad, one fifth of them in Qatar to build the infrastructures for the 2022 soccer World Cup, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Lecloux met these migrants in Qatar, in their workers’ camp, and in Nepal their families who had stayed behind.<\/p>\n

The question that arises is this: what is the cost of this tremendous increase in income for which the migrants accept to go “to prison for two years”, and of these statutory advantages for which the families accept the absence of their own? What human, social, societal cost? What cost for the men who left, for the families who stayed, for the villages, for the social fabric, for the nation? \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>
